Administrators can set word or character limits when adding text boxes as additional requirements. The applicant will not be able to submit the application if they have exceeded the limit(s). An error message will explain that they need to shorten their answer.

The default settings (if no limits are entered) are:

  • 1,000 words
  • 10,240 characters (Note: This is the maximum amount of characters allowed. If a longer response is needed, as for it as a file upload).

If you set only a word or character count, the other default limit will be filled in. Whichever limit is reached first by the applicant will be enforced.

However, if you set both a word and a character limit, you can override the default limit of 1,000 words and 10,240 characters.
