Routing steps are set to run sequentially by default (i.e., all reviews for one routing step of an application must be complete before reviews in the next routing step open for review).
If you would like reviews to be completed at the same time, you should make sure those routing steps run concurrently.
- Important things to remember about concurrent routing steps:
- Review information from one step will not be visible to reviewers in the other step. So if you want Step Two reviewers to see the completed Step One reviews, do not make those two steps concurrent.
- Important things to remember about sequential routing steps:
- If two routing steps are sequential, all reviews for the first step must be completed before any second step reviewers will get their review assignment. (This is per application, not for the whole opportunity.)
Note: Running steps concurrently also allows you to customize the emails that go to reviewers at that step. So, if you have multiple routing steps where you want to send specific messages each round, as long as the prior round(s) are completed by the time you need to assign the next round, you can run the steps concurrently to give you the most flexibility with messaging.
