In the Settings panel, the Validation area allows you to set character limits on applicant responses. It is available in two question fields:

The default is set at -1, meaning the maximum amount of characters is allowed (20,000).

To set a limit, simply type in the number of characters.

Character Limits vs. Word Limits

If you'd like to limit the response to number of words, we recommend the following character limits:

Applicant View

  • Applicants will see a character counter within the field as they type.
  • If the limit is reached, the text will be truncated at the last character allowed.
