This is a beta feature and optional configuration not enabled by default. If you would like to enable it on your site, contact your Implementation Specialist or submit a ticket to our Support Team.

This feature allows Administrators to limit the number of applications allowed per competition based on responses to a Dropdown or Multiple Choice question. It essentially implements a "first-come, first-served" type selection on that question.

Some scenarios where this may be useful include limiting:

  • The number of times a certain item may be requested, e.g., funds for a specific use.
  • The number of slots students can sign up for a specific interview or presentation date.
  • The number of nominations by a certain department or other group.

Administrator Configuration

  • 1. Create your basic dropdown or multiple choice question, including the label.
  • 2. Add all choices. If there are only a few, you can type them by hand. If there are many, it may be quicker to paste them as a list (outlined in green below).
  • 3. Check the "Limit by application count" box.
  • 4. Read over and customize the error message, if needed.
  • 5. Click the pencil next to each choice to enter the limit.
    • -1 is the default and indicates an unlimited number of applications can have that response.
    • Any number > 0 will limit the competition to have only that number of applications.

Applicant Experience

  • Users will see the question like any other and can select a response.
  • If the limit has already been reached based on already submitted applications, they will see the error message from Step 4 as soon as that response is chosen:

Notes:
- The count validation is calculated based on any application status except drafts.
- Administrators can update the application limit on a response at any time. If they reduce the number, all existing applications remain as-is, but no new applications can be submitted with that choice.
- Administrators can edit the error message at any time.
