The Multitrack Template will be sunset in Summer 2024. Unless you are managing a current multitrack opportunity, we recommend skipping this module.

Expected Completion Time: 35-40 Minutes

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this module, you should be able to do the following:

  • Create a Multitrack opportunity with tracks based on 1) an Applicant’s Primary Organization or 2) custom tracks you create.
  • Navigate the Multitrack Status table as you create a Multitrack opportunity, ensuring it is fully completed
    before launching.
  • Explain how the Data Grid works slightly differently for Multitrack Opportunities.
  • Download opportunity-level reports for the different tracks.

Related articles and training videos are included below. Please review materials that fit your learning style and then complete the Put into Practice exercise at the end of this module.

Creating Multitrack Opportunities

Instead of creating separate, similar opportunities, you can create one Multitrack opportunity in cases where Applicants have different application requirements and/or review processes based on their answer to a gating question. There are additional steps to create a Multitrack opportunity. The following resources explain more about this process.

Note: Multitrack opportunities are designed for a maximum of one application per Applicant. These opportunities are not currently conducive for processes that allow multiple submissions from one Applicant.

Module 8: Put into Practice Exercise

- Scenario 1: Your organization awards the same grant to three departments each year. In the past that meant managing three opportunities. This year, you want to offer one Multitrack opportunity. How will creating this opportunity differ from creating other opportunities? In this case, what gating question would you ask so Applicants are led to the correct track?
Scenario 2: Your organization has a workflow for administrative approvals that differs based on the department. How might you use the Multitrack template to set up an opportunity for these approvals?
- Activity: Create a new opportunity using the Multitrack template (two tracks only). One suggestion for this test opportunity is the approval of sabbatical requests, using the designated tracks of Fall semester or Spring semester. Once you have created this test opportunity, copy the URL link, and paste it in a Support ticket. Note completion of Module 8 and your responses for Scenarios 1 and 2 within the ticket.

Congratulations! You've completed Module 8.
