If you're creating an application process that involves evaluations, recommendations, and/or reference letters, there are multiple ways to approach the set up in InfoReady.
The two most common features are compared below. Click any blue text to read more in-depth instructions on the related functionality:
Applicant-Driven Routing Steps | Reference Letters | |
Required or optional? | All applicants must fill out an approver for each step | Varying numbers of letters can be collected (e.g., 1 required, 2 optional out of 3 total) |
What can be collected? | Form responses and/or letters in any combination (when utilized with the Form Designer Routing Step) | One file upload per letter writer |
Deadline options | Default or offset by application submission date (e.g., 2 weeks after initial submission) | Static deadline, but still separate from application deadline |
Notifications | Recommender(s) receive the Review Request email immediately upon application submission. Reminders come via the Review Requests Digest Email. | Recommender(s) can receive request while application is in draft or upon submission. Applicants can also set reminders. |
Recommender access | Recommenders must log in to InfoReady and can view the initial application (unless fields are hidden from reviewers) | Recommenders do not have to log in and cannot view the application |
Where does the collected recommendation live? | In the review process (part of the routing steps) | In the application packet (part of the initial application) |
