We recommend using the Form Designer Template (FDT) over the General template as it offers more customization options, additional features and field types, and a more updated user interface. 

The migration tool built into the platform helps admins quickly make the transition FDT: Transferring Existing Competitions to the Form Designer Template (Migration Tool).

The General template is gradually being sunset and will not be activated for new clients beginning July 2024.

The General template is available for our Platinum and Gold Levels of Service, or can be purchased separately. This template offers more flexibility than the standard Funding template, which makes it ideal for:

• Approval Forms
• Nominations
• Faculty promotion and tenure processes
• Outside employment verification forms
• Equipment requests
• Travel approval
• ...and more!

There are a few main differences on the General template, compared to the Funding template:

Details Page

• Internal Submission Deadline is the only default deadline listed (aside from the Remove From Homepage Date field). Other custom dates can be added.
• The Advanced Funding Module is not shown. 

Requirements Page

• Only three required default fields: First Name, Last Name, and Title
• The labels for all three required default fields can be edited.
  • Quick Tip: The Title field can be customized to collect other relevant information, like nominee name, ID #, travel location, etc.
